Exfoliating with a Sugar Scrub and Dry Brushing
Exfoliants stimulate your sebaceous glands, smooth your skin and jump-start the production of new collagen. To get a polished glow, I use loofa gloves which can be purchased at department or dollar stores instead of putting oil on. I also use fine white granulated sugar to exfoliate my skin when in the shower or bath, and I don't add oil to my sugar scrub. It makes the skin feel like silk, removes dead skin, stimulates cell renewal and oil production.
Exfoliating Scrubs Stripping away tired old skin by using an exfoliant can be a rejuvenating experience. Exfoliants smooth your skiin and jump-start the production of new collagen. After an exfoliation treatment, new skin develops. Your new skin absorbs moisture more easily. Maintaining moisture helps slow the wrinkle process and produces a more glowing appearance. Facial cloths, Loofah sponges, exfoliation brushes and body scrubs stimulate the rejuvenation process.
Eczema Scrubs Eczema scrubs are ideal for removing the dry, flaky skin that can be so irritating to those who suffer from eczema. While normal skin cells regenerate every 28 days, in the case of eczema the epidermis regenerates every 2 to 4 days, which causes the skin to work overtime, producing excess dead, flaking skin. With symptoms that range from dryness to scaling, redness, burning, swelling, and bleeding, eczema can be extremely uncomfortable. Using an eczema scrub helps to decrease the inflammation that occurs in the upper layers of the skin, providing relief from itching while helping to heal sores. A good eczema scrub helps to control the bacteria contributing to outbreaks.
The Benefits of Exfoliation One of the biggest problems for dry skin is that it tends to look flaky, chalky or dull. This is because dry skin does not exfoliate itself well. Due to its tendency to produce very little sebum, the cellular 'glue' that binds the skin together does not naturally break down quickly in dry skin.
In fact, it tends to solidify and 'stick' to the skin's surface for longer than normal. The result is patches of stubborn 'glued-on' skin cells.
The Dry Brushing Technique Dry brushing stimulates the hormone and oil glands. Dry skin brushing helps shed dead skin cells, which can help improve skin texture and cell renewal. Dry skin is a sign of detoxification. Therefore it’s good to keep the process going by removing the dead skin daily. If this does not occur, a “log jam” can happen where the person ends up with eczema, psoriasis, and dandruff.
Exfoliation for Seborrheic Dermatitis Exfoliating skin can help dry or rough skin.
Amlactin and Exfoliation HERE'S WHAT IS SAID ABOUT AMLACTIN AND WHY IT HELPS ECZEMA, BUT I PREFER A SUGAR SCRUB AND SUGAR COSTS MUCH LESS, TOO: It's rich in alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA), which are responsible for its ability to exfoliate dead skin cells. This reveals new, healthy skin and improves the appearance of dull, ashy skin. Both formulas are rich in 12 percent lactic acid, which is a naturally occurring AHA fermented from milk. It's used extensively in everything from moisturizers to cosmetics, and its ability to slough off dead skin cells and increase cellular turnover rates is unsurpassed. Though it may seem unusual to slather on a lotion that contains such a powerful AHA, it's this very ingredient that does such an impressive job of rejuvenating the skin and leaving it glowing. Individuals who suffer from skin problems like the aforementioned eczema and psoriasis, as well as keratosis pilaris and hyperkeratosis, report success when AmLactin is applied to trouble spots. The product eliminates the excess skin causing the problem.
